Noise at Work Regulations
The Health and Safety Executive’s 'Noise at Work Regulations: 1989' has now been superseded by the HSE's 'Control of Noise at Work Regulations: 2005' based on the European Commission’s ‘Physical Agents (noise) Directive’ Whilst there are some subtle differences between the documents, the 2005 regulations effectively tighten employee noise acoustic exposure limits by 5dB. The Regulations also impose certain duties on both employers and employees with a view to protecting persons against risk to their health and safety arising from exposure to noise acoustics at work including carrying out risk assessments, noise control/elimination, health surveillance, provision and maintenance of hearing protectors and provision of information, instruction and training.
Hunter Acoustics is in a position to carry out detailed employee noise exposure assessments across small, medium and large industrial sites with reference to the updated 'Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005'. Cost effective solutions bearing in mind practical implications for the production line are Hunter Acoustics aim.
Music & Entertainment sectors finally fell under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (Noise Regulations) in April 2008.
